In the Archdiocese of Dubuque, youth are Confirmed at age 15. In line with this age, St. Francis of Assisi offers a Confirmation preparation program for those in either 9th or 10th grade. At Baptism, parents present their child to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. At Confirmation, the parents are again presenting their child, this time to receive a strengthening of the Holy Spirit.
At your child’s baptism, you promised to raise your child in the Catholic faith. You are their primary educator and nurturer of what it means to live the Catholic faith and to live as a disciple of Jesus. We are here to support you in fulfilling the promise made at your child’s baptism by offering a Confirmation preparation program that starts at the beginning of their 9th grade year. There are many components to this preparation and it is up to you as a parent to encourage your child to complete them. These components include attending Mass each week, participating in a retreat, completing service hours, and attending our confirmation classes.
