I also believe there was some confusion about the Virgen de Gudalupe. All apparitions of Mary (when Mary appeared to people throughout history ~ see the image above) are the one and only Mary, mother of Jesus. There are not many Marys. The Virgen de Guadalupe appeared as a Mestizo woman to Saint Juan Diego, making her relatable to him and his people. At Lourdes (in France), she was an Anglo woman. She was not many different women. Some said the Virgen de Guadalupe was born in Mexico in the 1500s. That is incorrect. She was born in the Holy Land approximately 14-16 years before Jesus was born. She died, but was assumed into heaven by Jesus (meaning her body was never buried, but rather brought straight to heaven). From there, she has appeared to many different people in many different places and times, but she is the SAME MARY!
